CANDIDATES WANTED FOR THE COUNTY’S POLICE DISCIPLINE BOARDS: Deadline to Apply is April 27, 2022

The County Executive has issued a call for candidates for our County’s new police discipline boards.  Here’s a link to the vacancy notice: Police Accountability Board and Administrative Charging Committee.  Applicants who represent the full range of diversity of our County, including community members directly impacted by policing, are encouraged to apply.

More About the Administrative Charging Committee and the Police Accountability Board:

The ACC will decide police officer discipline involving all public complaints against officers in Montgomery County, including officers of the Montgomery County Police Department, deputy sheriffs from the Montgomery County Sheriff Office, and officers from the police departments of Gaithersburg, Rockville, Chevy Chase Village, and Takoma Park.  The PAB will monitor all police discipline that goes through the ACC and make recommendations to the County and city police department officials for improving policing in the County.  Board members receive compensation of between $10,000 and $22,000 per year, and the County covers out-of-pocket expenses, including childcare.

Here is a longer document describing the positions and the history of the boards in much more detail.   If you want to talk to someone about applying for one of these positions, please email: silverspringjustice@gmail.com
